AI trials to speed-up planning checks

The government is relaxing AI regulations in a bid to cut bureaucracy stifling business.

Planning will be a main focus with developers sending photo evidence to authorities online which are then approved using trained AI models.

A typical housing development application currently racks up 4,000 pages of documentation and takes as long as 18 months from submission to approval.

The government hopes this time can be slashed by taking the checks out of human hands and given to new AI systems.

A new online map of underground cables and pipes will also help planning officials and builders avoid lengthy and costly delays caused by accidental damage, without having to contact multiple utilities companies.
